CSS: Never use margins again for spacing

Are you using margins or paddings to create some space between your elements?

Stop using margins and paddings forever and replace them with the gap CSS property.

It is an easy way to define the space between the elements you want.

NOTE: I'm using Tailwind in the code examples.

You can use the gap with the grid display but also with the flex display.

<div class="grid gap-4 grid-cols-2"> <div>01</div> <div>02</div> <div>03</div> <div>04</div> </div>
html
<div class="flex gap-4"> <div>01</div> <div>02</div> <div>03</div> <div>04</div> </div>
html

Only want to create a gap on the x or y axis?

No problem, you can also do that with the Tailwind gap-x and gap-y classes.

<div class="grid gap-y-4 grid-cols-2"> <div>01</div> <div>02</div> <div>03</div> <div>04</div> </div>
html
<div class="grid gap-x-4 grid-cols-2"> <div>01</div> <div>02</div> <div>03</div> <div>04</div> </div>
html
